“The brand joins the Big Save Braai Day celebration, using one of South Africa’s most-loved traditions to celebrate the moments, memories and connections that bring communities together“

As South Africans prepare to celebrate Heritage Day, White Star is set to mark the occasion at the Big Save Braai Day festivities with an immersive consumer activation inspired by one of the country’s most cherished traditions: gathering around the braai.
For many South Africans, a braai is about far more than sharing a meal. It is a space where families and friends connect, stories are exchanged, laughter is shared and traditions are passed from one generation to the next. White Star’s participation in the celebration reflects this enduring role, creating an engaging environment where consumers can experience the brand through food, entertainment and interactive activities.

Visitors to the White Star activation can look forward to a range of activities throughout the day, including interactive games, competitions, live entertainment and branded giveaways. One of the key highlights will be the White Star Dance Battle, inspired by the brand’s latest television commercial and designed to bring people of all ages together through music, movement and fun.
Hosted by renowned South African dancer, choreographer and television personality Bontle Modiselle Moloi, the Dance Battle will invite attendees to take part in energetic dance-offs, with prizes awarded for creativity, enthusiasm and crowd engagement.
The activation draws inspiration from White Star’s latest television commercial, which celebrates the familiar sounds that form part of everyday South African life – from the whistle of a boiling pot and the crackle of braai coals to the lively conversations and laughter shared between family and friends.
“Heritage Day gives us an opportunity to celebrate the traditions, people and shared experiences that continue to shape who we are as South Africans. The braai is one of those traditions that transcends generations and communities. Through our participation in Big Save Braai Day, we are celebrating that spirit of togetherness while creating a space where people can come together through food, culture and shared moments,” says Jonita Cuff, Marketing Manager for White Star. Beyond the on-site experiences, consumers will also have opportunities to capture and share their Braai Day moments through dedicated photography and social media content opportunities, extending the celebration beyond the event itself.
White Star’s participation at Big Save Braai Day forms part of the brand’s broader commitment to creating meaningful connections with consumers through shared meals, experiences and moments that celebrate community.

At its heart, the activation is a celebration of what makes South African heritage so distinctive: the ability to bring people together around food, music, culture and stories.
Because while the braai may start with food, the memories created around it are what truly bring people together.
For White Star, this Heritage Day is about celebrating more than a braai. It is about celebrating South Africa, its people, its traditions and the connections that make every shared moment matter. Follow more on @whitestarSA @sabuzzmedia
