This year’s theme, “The Journey,” invites us not only to honour the destination of achievement, but to reflect on the quiet resilience, bold decisions, and purpose-driven steps that get us there. It’s a tribute to established changemakers, emerging leaders, and everyday women who dare to make a difference — recognised, uplifted, and celebrated.
Founded in 2013 by esteemed businesswoman and philanthropist Pontsho Manzi, the Fabulous Woman Awards is more than an event — it’s a legacy in motion. What began as a platform to spotlight extraordinary women has grown into a broader commitment to mentorship, development, and community upliftment through its founding organisation, the Fabulous Girls Foundation.
And now, that foundation carries a new name.The Fabulous Girls Foundation is now the SLM Foundation — a shift that honours the deep roots of its mission while planting seeds for future growth. The name Selomane (SLM) pays tribute to Pontsho’s father, a compassionate leader and mentor in his own right, whose influence lives on in the values of Ubuntu and purpose that anchor the foundation’s work.
This renaming is not just symbolic — it reflects a fuller vision. The SLM Foundation continues to champion women and girls across South Africa, with a renewed focus on equipping them to lead, build, and transform their communities. The Fabulous Woman Awards remain its annual crescendo — a celebration of how far we’ve come, and a beacon for where we’re going.Pontsho shared:“I’m delighted to recognise the outstanding and excellent change agents who have done sterling work in poverty eradication and the empowerment and advancement of women and youth in South Africa.
