South Africa has voted,Windhoek Beer can officially reveal the Top 5 Realest One-Handed Food Legends in the country.
These are the flavour heroes who’ve had the streets talking and the timelines buzzing. They’ve won over South Africans – and impressed celebrity judges..
One of these legends(hotspots) will walk away with a major national prize of R200,000.
Since launching in October last year, the Windhoek Real Beer, Real Food (#RealBeerRealFood) campaign has grown into one of the country’s most talked-about foodie movements. This was a nationwide call to celebrate the meals that matter – the ones served through a hatch, enjoyed on the stoep, grabbed on the go, and shared in conversations that fix life’s problems. The kind of food you eat with one hand… because the other one’s holding an ice-cold Windhoek.
From kasi corners to city hotspots, thousands of stories, tags and videos flooded social feeds as Mzansi rallied behind their favourites. It was street-level love meets national flavour – celebrating the people who serve with both hands, so the rest of us can eat with one.
After a combination of public votes and scoring from the Real Beer, Real Food judging panel, these five have earned their spot:
- Disoufeng – Soweto
- Chaf Pozi – Soweto
- Marks Pub & Shisanyama – Pretoria
- Boipelo’s Kitchen – Mobile Kitchen
- Sasko’s Kitchen – Vosloorus

All five finalists will also receive national exposure, including short film profiles and publicity across Windhoek’s platforms.
