South Africa’s film and television industry gathered for a night of celebration at the 19th annual South African Film and Television Awards (Saftas), held at the Gallagher Convention Centre on Saturday, March 14.
The ceremony brought together some of the country’s biggest names in front of and behind the camera to honour outstanding work across film, television, soaps, dramas and telenovelas.
The stars dazzled on the red carpet and accepted their accolades with pride and excitement.
The main awards show was hosted by Anele Mgudlwa and Alphi Mkhwanazi, while the stunning red carpet coverage was led by Pamela Mntanga and Katleho Sinivasan.
Amapiano artist Kamo Mpela brought the vibes, making the venue come alive as she opened with a medley of her songs before performing her hit song “Partii”.
Veteran actors Magic Hlatshwayo and Bobby Heaney were the lifetime achievement honourees; they were both celebrated with a Lifetime Achiever award in recognition of their decades-long contributions to the country’s television industry.
