PSL Broadcast Agreement Finalized

Johannesburg, 16 September 2024 – SuperSport and the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) have reached a sub-licensing agreement for Premier Soccer League PSL broadcast rights, ahead of the new Betway Premiership season.

The agreement follows similar deals for the MTN8 tournament and the Currie Cup.

Expanding Football Coverage

The Betway Premiership kicked off on 14 September 2024, with millions of fans tuning in to watch their favorite teams vie for the top prize in South African football. SuperSport CEO Rendani Ramovha expressed enthusiasm about the continued partnership with SABC, stating,

“This sub-licensing deal further strengthens our relationship with SABC and ensures that football fans across South Africa and Africa enjoy premier PSL content on SuperSport.”

SABC Secures 51 Match Broadcast Package

SABC Group CEO Nomsa Chabeli highlighted the broadcaster’s commitment to delivering exceptional sports content, announcing that SABC will air 51 matches during the season.

“Our package includes 23 Betway Premiership matches, 10 Carling Black Label Cup matches, 12 Nedbank Cup matches, and 6 National First Division matches. League matches will be broadcast every Saturday on SABC 1.”

In addition to live broadcasts, SABC plans to strengthen its football analysis team with the addition of new members, including Itumeleng Khune, Jabu Mahlangu, and Coach Thabo Senong. They will join veteran analysts Doctor Khumalo, Simphiwe Dludlu, and Hlompho Kekana to provide in-depth commentary and insights for viewers.
